What has always fascinated me about ants is their apparent social structure, working together as a community. A structure that in many ways is not dissimilar to man's. I am intrigued by the thought that due to our differences in scale they seem oblivious to the fact that we exist and further more the fact that we can observe them. Who are we to say that the human race, likewise, are not being observed in a similar way? There are billions of ants in this world and yet every single one of them is precious. The number or scale does not diminish identity.

In casting my ants in 18ct gold my intent is that each one will grab the observer's attention from the outset and it is then up to the individual viewer to hopefully seek a little further.
